Sunrise Lodge is located in the small seaside town of Kaikoura. Kaikoura is blessed with spectacular scenery as the mountains meet the sea. We are now run by Dusky Lodge our bigger sister just 20 meters across the road. All guests are welcome to use the Dusky lodge pool and spa.

The main reason to visit Kaikoura is Whale Watching the whales are here all year round. Another exciting and popular activity is swimming with the huge pods of dolphins. Other activities include kayaking, surfing, fishing trips, and of course the beautiful coastal walking tracks.

Kaikoura (also spelled Kaikōura; /kaɪˈkɔːrə/, Māori: Te Ahi Kaikōura a Tama ki te Rangi) is a town on the East coast of the South Island of New Zealand. It is located on State Highway 1, 180 km north of Christchurch. The town has an estimated permanent resident population of 2,080 (as of June 2017). The town is the governmental seat of the territorial authority of the Kaikoura District, which is politically a part of the Canterbury region.
